Mounted Points
We stock Rubberized, Vitrified, Fiber, Resin Bond, General Purpose Mounted points. Many are available in White, Orange, Red, Blue-Gray, Green, Pink, Grayish, Black & Brown. The color will determine many of the times whether or not they are made of a Aluminum Oxide, Silicone Carbide, Resin, Fibre or Rubber.
Application & Recommendation
Working with Aluminum try coarse Resin for heavy deburring, try Fiber for Stock removal. Brass use a resin mounted stone. Cemented Carbide best to use Green Silicone Carbide or Black Silicone Carbide. When working with Ceramics hard & brittle Green Silicone Carbide should be used. Chamfering Edges try a very hard Blue-Gray. Deburring use a very hard Blue-Gray or Very Hard Grayish-White. Forging Die Grinding a hard Blue-Grayish is recommended. For the Highest RC materials a very soft grayish-white is good. General Purpose Tool Room use a soft white stone. Softer RC Materials a medium Burt-Orange is good. Portable grinding for tools & dies - General Stock removal a medium Burnt-Orange. Stock removal with light deburring a hard Burnt-Orange. General deburring go with a hard to very hard Blue-Gray. With wear Resistant Steels a medium Black Silicone Carbide stone is good. Polishing & Blending a fiber mounted point is preferable. Stainless Steel a resin type stone will work.
Jig grinding with general purpose, oil hardened, rough grinding of softer steels or wear resistant steels have their own type of points. Cylindrical points are available for these applications.
Fiber & Rubber Bonded Wheels
Fiber & rubber bonded wheels are more expensive than resin & vitrified bonded wheels. Rubber bonded wheels are made from a mixture of abrasive & rubber. They are used for either satin finishing or polishing, dependent largely upon their grit size. Due to their high costs, we stock the more popular points for your convenience. Fiber bonded points are composed of laminated layers that include a mixture of abrasive, cotton & either a rubber or a resin bond. They are used primairly for polishing applications that require very light deburring or blending. Very resistant to loading, they may be used for stock removal of soft, non-ferrous metals such as aluminum.
Miniature High Speed Burrs & Burs
We supply Round, Bud, Cone, Flame, Tree, Cylinder, Reamer, Wheel, Inverted Cone & Hart HSS Burrs in sizes from .0118 to .437 in diameter. These little burrs are made from extremely rugged high speed steel to withstand heat build-up under extreme conditions. We also have the tungsten vanadium steel burrs on 3/32" shanks.
